AMES, Iowa — Iowa State University and the University of Iowa both started fast in posting 3-0 win over North Dakota State University during the second day of the Cyclone Invitational in Hilton Coliseum. The Cyclones defeated NDSU 25-16, 25-19, 25-17 and the Hawkeyes won 25-14, 25-21, 25-15.

North Dakota State (2-8) is scheduled to open against Northwestern University (5-4) at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, in the UNI Tournament in Cedar Falls.

Alexis Conaway connected for a match-high 12 kills and hit .550 to lead Iowa State (6-2) against the Bison. Suzanne Horner collected 35 assists as the Cyclones hit .394 for the match.

Jessica Jorgensen paced NDSU with nine kills and hit .368 against Iowa State.
Brianna Rasmusson had 27 assists, while
Hadley Steffen had two service aces.
Emily Milligan had a match-high seven digs.

Jorgensen, a 6-foot-1 junior middle blocker from Blaine, Minn., was named to the Cyclone Invitational all-tournament team.

Iowa came out firing behind Lauren Brobst, Reghan Coyle and Jess Janota to outhit the Bison 330 to .145. Brobst had a match-high 11 kills and hit .348, Janota and Coyle each had 10 kills with Janota connecting for a .667 hitting percentage. Loxley Keala had 38 assists, eight digs, three aces and a pair of blocks from the setter position.

Emily Minnick led NDSU with nine kills, two blocks and hit .353, while
Emily Miron had eight kills. Rasmusson contributed 24 assists, while Milligan came up with eight digs.
