WILMINGTON, N.C. – The UNCW Seahawks scored a goal in each half to claim a 2-0 victory over the North Dakota State University women's soccer team on Sunday, Sept. 18, in front of 456 spectators at UNCW Soccer Stadium.
With the loss, the Bison fall to 4-5-0 overall, while UNCW improves to 6-2-1 on the season.
The Seahawks gained a 1-0 lead after Serenity Waters converted a penalty-kick in the 24th-minute.
UNCW increased its lead to 2-0 when Callie McClain found the back of the net in the 65th-minute off assists from Waters and Katie McGrath.
For the match, the Seahawks outshot the Bison, 10-5, and posted a 5-0 advantage in shots on goal.

Monica Polgar made a match-high three saves, but surrendered both goals to suffer the loss and fall to 4-5-0 between the posts.
Waters paced the Seahawks offensively with a goal, an assist, and two shots on goal.
Goalkeeper Liisa Rahkola earned the win in-goal for UNCW after giving up no goals in 90 minutes to improve to 2-0-0 overall.
North Dakota State is scheduled to host Jamestown on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 7 p.m. at Dacotah Field.
