GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Sophomore forward
Holly Enderle netted a hat-trick to help the North Dakota State women's soccer team defeat the University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks, 4-1, on Friday afternoon, Sept. 2, in front of 389 spectators at Bronson Field in Grand Forks.
With the win, the Bison improve to 3-2-0 overall, while UND falls to 1-4-1 on the season.
Enderle, a native of Plymouth, Minn., scored her first goal of the match in the eighth-minute off a corner kick from
Lauren Miller, before netting her second goal on a pair of passes from
Mariah Haberle and
Amy Yang in the 26th-minute, increasing the Bison lead to 2-0.
After the Fighting Hawks netted a goal one-minute later to cut the NDSU lead to 2-1, Enderle completed her hat-trick and increased the Bison advantage to 3-1 in the 33rd-minute with her third goal of the contest. Haberle tallied the assist on Enderle's goal.
Senior defender
Natalie Fenske made it 4-1, NDSU, after she scored her first career goal off a corner kick from Yang in the 44th-minute.
Enderle's hat-trick was the first since Miller netted three goals at Denver last season.
Freshman goalkeeper
Monica Polgar earned the win between the posts for the Bison to improve to 3-2-0 on the season after playing the full 90 minutes in-goal and making four saves.
North Dakota State is scheduled to conclude its four-match road swing with a contest at Washington State on Sunday, Sept. 4, at 9 p.m. CT (7 p.m. PT).
