FARGO, N.D. – Junior guard
Paul Miller scored a career-high 33 points to lead the North Dakota State men's basketball team to a thrilling 89-83 victory over Fort Wayne on Thursday night at the Scheels Center.

NDSU improved to 13-6 overall and 5-1 in The Summit League, remaining in first place. The Bison shot 54 percent for the game and made 13-of-22 from beyond the arc for 59 percent.

Sophomore point guard
Khy Kabellis poured in a career-high 25 points for NDSU. Kabellis had 19 points at halftime after making his first four three-point attempts.

Fort Wayne (14-6, 3-3) was led by 28 points from senior guard Mo Evans, who made 6-of-8 three-point shots to contribute to the Mastodons' 16 three-pointers in the game.

After leading by as many as 10 points in the first half (41-31 with 5:00 left before halftime), the Bison saw their advantage disappear in the second half. The Mastodons vaulted into the lead with 12:42 remaining when Evans converted a four-point play to put Fort Wayne ahead 66-63.

Fort Wayne took its largest lead a 78-71 with just under eight minutes left in the game after Evans scored eight straight points with a driving layup and a pair of treys. Miller answered with a three-pointer to stop the bleeding for the Bison, and NDSU battled back to within one at 80-79 with three minutes to play.

Miller knocked down a pair of free throws to put NDSU back on top at 81-80, and after a Mastodon turnover, he drilled his seventh three-pointer to make it 84-80 Bison with 1:41 left.

Carlin Dupree made three free throws in the final 30 seconds, and
Dexter Werner converted a pair at the charity stripe to seal the victory for the Bison.

Kabellis matched his season-high with five assists, and Werner recorded eight rebounds and four assists.

NDSU registered its highest field goal and three-point percentages of the season. Miller's 33 points were the most by a Bison since Taylor Braun scored 34 at North Dakota on Nov. 24, 2013.
