BROOKINGS, S.D. – The North Dakota State University women's soccer team suffered a 4-0 loss at South Dakota State in the regular season finale for both teams on Sunday, Oct. 29, at Fishback Soccer Park.
With the setback, NDSU finishes the regular season at 7-10-0 overall and 5-2-0 in Summit League play while SDSU improves to 11-4-3 on the season and claims The Summit League regular season title with a record of 7-0-0 in league action.
The Bison will host The Summit League Women's Soccer Championship starting Thursday, Nov. 2, at Dacotah Field. NDSU will be the number four seed and will battle top-seeded South Dakota State at 2:30 p.m. Thursday.
The Jackrabbits scored two goals in each half on their way to the victory.
Junior
Britney Monteon tallied the only North Dakota State shot on goal to lead the Bison offensively.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Monica Polgar (7-5-0) suffered the loss between the posts for NDSU after surrendering four goals while making three saves in 77 minutes.
For the match, the Jacks outshot the Bison, 16-5, and compiled a 9-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Nicole Hatcher paced South Dakota State with a goal and assist for three points.
SDSU goalkeeper Maggie Smither (10-4-3) earned the win in goal after giving up no goals while making one save in 79 minutes.
