FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Fort Wayne Mastodons outscored the North Dakota State University women's basketball team 44-33 in the second-half to rally from a seven-point halftime deficit and defeat the Bison, 72-68, Saturday, Feb. 11, in front of 728 spectators at the Gates Sports Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
With the loss, the Bison drop to 5-20 overall and 3-9 in Summit League play while the Mastodons improve to 5-20 on the season and 2-10 in league action.
Freshman
Sarah Jacobson scored a career-high 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the floor and had four assists to lead North Dakota State, while junior
Taylor Thunstedt netted 14 points and set a new NDSU single-season record for three-pointers made (85) after making four threes in the contest.
The Bison shot 52 percent from the field and 44 percent from three-point range, but were outrebounded by Fort Wayne 30-26, which included 11 offensive boards for the Mastodons compared to only five for North Dakota State.
De'Jour Young and Zaria Atkins both scored 16 points to lead Fort Wayne.
The Mastodons shot 49 percent from the floor and 38 percent from beyond the arc, and compiled nine steals. Fort Wayne also outscored NDSU in the paint, 38-28.
North Dakota State is scheduled to return home to the Scheels Center at the Sanford Health Athletic Complex to host the Denver Pioneers on Wednesday, Feb. 15, at 7 p.m.
