OMAHA, Neb. -- The North Dakota State University baseball team claimed a 6-1 victory over the Omaha Mavericks Sunday, April 2, at Isaacson Field at Seymour Smith Park.

With the victory, NDSU wins the three-game series, 2-1, and improves to 11-15 overall and 4-5 in Summit League play while UNO drops to 6-21 on the season and 4-5 in league action.

NDSU sophomore right-handed starter Jordan Harms (1-4) allowed just one earned run on three hits with four strikeouts and two walks in seven innings of work to pick up his first win of the season.

Six different Bison tallied a hit in the game, including junior Mason Pierzchalski, who also drove in a game-high two runs.

North Dakota State scored three runs in the first, two in the second and one in the third to gain a 6-0 advantage.

The Mavericks tallied a run in the sixth, but Harms and Bison reliever Chris Choles kept Omaha off the scoreboard the remainder of the game, sealing the NDSU win.

Ryan Cate drove in the Mavericks' lone run of the game with a double to lead the Omaha at the plate.

Reliever Shane Meltz (0-3) suffered the loss on the mound for the Mavs after giving up three earned runs on two hits in an inning.

North Dakota State is scheduled to travel to Minneapolis Tuesday, April 4, for a 4:30 p.m. non-league game at Siebert Field against the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
