FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State men's basketball team dropped a non-conference game to in-state rival North Dakota on Tuesday evening at the Scheels Center, losing 86-77.

North Dakota (7-11 overall) converted 17 Bison turnovers into a remarkable 32 points.

NDSU (10-9 overall) was led by a game-high 27 points from senior guard
Paul Miller, who has now scored 20-plus points in six straight games. Senior
A.J. Jacobson scored a season-high 18 points for the Bison, and sophomore
Tyson Ward recorded his fifth double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Dylan Miller grabbed a season-high seven rebounds, helping NDSU to a 39-21 advantage on the glass.

The Fighting Hawks led 46-37 at halftime after hitting 10 three-pointers in the first 20 minutes. UND pushed the margin to 16 at 57-41 following back-to-back three-pointers with 16:46 remaining. The Bison cut that deficit to four at 66-62 when Ward knocked down a trey with 9:12 to play.

With NDSU trailing 68-64, North Dakota went on a 9-0 run over a stretch of 3:30 to go up 77-64 with five minutes left.

The Bison pulled within six at 81-75 with a minute remaining, but NDSU missed two three-pointers on the same possession that would have cut it to three.

The Bison now hold a 6-4 advantage in 10 Division I meetings between the two schools.

NDSU travels to Indiana to play Fort Wayne in Summit League action on Saturday, Jan. 20.
