FARGO, N.D. – Junior guard
Vinnie Shahid scored 19 points, including an off-balance jumper with a minute remaining in the game, to lift the North Dakota State men's basketball team to a 74-67 win over Missouri State on Saturday night.

The Bison improved to 4-7 on the season, while Missouri State fell to 4-6.

NDSU led by as many as 18 in the second half, but saw that lead dwindle to four points with 1:30 remaining. Missouri State had rattled off a 9-1 run that pulled the Bears within four at 69-65, but Shahid dribbled off a screen and knocked down a long jumper to give the Bison some breathing room.

The Bison overcame 19 turnovers in the game, and Missouri State took 27 more shots than NDSU in the contest. The Bison shot a season-best 55 percent from the field and 44 percent from three-point range.

NDSU benefitted from a large advantage at the free throw line, making 23-of-32 attempts.

Behind Shahid's 19 points, NDSU received 10 points apiece from
Jared Samuelson and
Rocky Kreuser.
Tyson Ward registered nine points and six rebounds. Junior
Chris Quayle had six points and five rebounds in his first start for NDSU this season.

Up 54-46 with 11 minutes remaining, the Bison went on a 10-0 run capped by a three-pointer from Samuelson and a bucket from
Jordan Horn.
