PUNTA GORDA, Fla. – The North Dakota State University baseball team concluded the Snowbird Baseball Classic with a 4-0 victory over the Central Connecticut State University Blue Devils Sunday, Feb. 25, at South County Regional Park.
The Bison (4-3) are scheduled to travel to Minneapolis to face Minnesota on Tuesday, Feb. 27, at 6 p.m. inside U.S. Bank Stadium.
Senior
Logan Busch went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and RBI, while redshirt junior
Jayse McLean homered for the first time this season, leading NDSU. Senior
Drew Fearing also tallied a pair of hits in the contest.
Left-handed reliever
Chris Choles (1-0) earned the win on the mound for the Bison after allowing no earned runs on no hits with one walk and no strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings of work.
North Dakota State jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third after McLean hit a home run to left field.
The Bison increased their lead to 2-0 after Bennet Hostetler hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fourth, scoring Busch.
NDSU plated its final two runs of the game in the bottom of the eighth on a fielder's choice RBI from
Mason Pierzchalski and a RBI single off the bat of Busch.
Senior right-hander Brett Susi (0-1) suffered the loss on the mound for the Blue Devils (1-2) after giving up two earned runs on three hits with one walk and no strikeouts in four innings.
