Madyson Camacho knocked in the winning run as North Dakota State edged BYU 3-2 in the opener while G Juarez struck out nine as No. 8 Arizona State beat the Bison 9-1 in five innings at the ASU Invitational on Saturday, March 31, at Farrington Stadium.

NDSU (20-12) is open Summit League play against Omaha (13-24, 1-5 SL) with a three-game series that has been moved to Minnesota's Jane Sage Cowles Stadium. The teams play at doubleheader at noon Saturday, April 7, and a single-game at 11 a.m. Sunday, April 8. The Bison single-game with North Dakota scheduled for Tuesday, April 10, has been postponed with a make-up date to be determined.

North Dakota State struck in the top of the first inning.
Vanessa Anderson drilled the first pitch she saw for a two-out, two-run double to center.

BYU tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the third on RBI singles from Brielle Breland and Libby Sugg.

NDSU took the lead for good in the top of third.
Stephanie Soriano led off with a single, moved to second on
Montana DeCamp's sacrifice bunt and third on a ground out. Soriano scored on Camacho's single up the middle.

BYU outhit the Bison 11-6 overall and had runners in scoring position in three of the final four innings. Strikeouts ended threats in two of those innings, while pitcher
KK Leddy and
Vanessa Anderson turned in an important double play in the sixth.

Leddy (4-4) struck out seven and walked in picking up the complete game win.
Bre Beatty led NDSU with two base hits.

Autumn Moffat (3-4) and Arianna Paulson pitched for the Cougars with Moffat taking the loss. The pair combined for five strikeouts and five walks. Paulson didn't allow a hit over three innings of relief.

Arizona State (30-4) exploded for six runs in the bottom of the third to take control early. Stankiewicz went 2-for-2 with a double, home run and four RBI, while J Gortarez went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI.

Anderson led off the top of the fifth with a home run to break up the Juarez shutout and no-hit bid. It was the second homer of the season for Anderson.

Juarez (15-1) struck out nine and issued no walks in the win for Arizona State.

Jacquelyn Sertic (15-7) took the loss for the Bison. Sertic allowed six earned runs, struck out four and had two walks.
