FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State University baseball team fell to the Oral Roberts University Golden Eagles, 11-8, in the opening game of a three-game Summit League series Friday, May 4, at Newman Outdoor Field.
North Dakota State (18-20, 9-11 Summit League) and Oral Roberts (28-15, 17-5 Summit League) are slated to play game two of the series Saturday, May 5, at 1 p.m.
Sophomore
Bennett Hostetler went 2-for-4 with a homer – his first of the season, to go along with two runs scored and a RBI, while senior
Logan Busch added his first triple of the season, leading the Bison at the plate.
Sophomore right-hander
Riley Johnson (4-6) suffered the loss on the mound for NDSU after giving up eight runs, six earned, on seven hits with four strikeouts and three walks in three innings pitched.
Infielder Cal Hernandez went 4-for-6 with a double and three runs scored to pace the Golden Eagles in the batter's box.
Right-hander Josh McMinn (3-5) earned the victory for Oral Roberts after allowing six runs, five earned, on six hits with four walks and four strikeouts in five innings of work. Closer Kyler Stout secured his Summit League-best 11th save of the season after throwing a scoreless bottom of the ninth inning.
