GREEN BAY, Wis. – The North Dakota State University women's soccer team opened its 2018 regular season with a 4-1 victory at Green Bay Sunday, Aug. 19, at Aldo Santaga Stadium.

Mike Regan said. "The things we have been working on throughout preseason – our identity as a team defensively and offensively – definitely showed throughout the game." Â
North Dakota State (1-0-0) is scheduled to return to the friendly confines of Dacotah Field to host Weber State on Sunday, Aug. 26, at 1 p.m. for NDSU Women's Soccer Camper Reunion Day.
Junior
Mariah Haberle netted a goal and dished out an assist to lead the Bison offense, while
Holly Enderle,
Hanna Norman and
Marian Taiwo also each scored one goal for NDSU.
Roxy Roemer added a pair of assists, respectively.
Junior goalkeeper
Monica Polgar (1-0-0) earned her first victory of the season between the posts after making six saves and allowing one goal in 90 minutes.
North Dakota State outshot Green Bay in the match 25-14, including a 10-7 edge in shots on goal, and took three corner kicks while holding the Phoenix to just one.
Enderle put the Bison in front, 1-0, in the 14th minute after controlling a Haberle cross and tapping it into the back of the net. It was her first goal since 2016.
Green Bay leveled the match, 1-1, with a goal in the 19th minute, but NDSU responded, regaining the lead at 2-1 after Norman headed a Roemer corner kick home in the 28th minute.
Haberle made it 3-1, Bison, just two minutes later after she corralled a feed from Roemer and hammered it into the goal.
Taiwo provided the exclamation point in the match for North Dakota State after she scored a wide-open goal in the 78th minute.
"Make no mistake, we have a lot things to improve on, but overall, I'm very proud of the group," Regan added. "We're going to enjoy this win, but we'll get back to work tomorrow and start preparing for Weber State." Â
Alycia Wright scored the lone goal for Green Bay, and Mckayla Kertscher compiled the assist, leading the Phoenix.
Courtney Klatt (0-2-0) suffered the loss in-goal for Green Bay after giving up three goals and making four saves in 45 minutes.
