WATERLOO, Iowa - Northern Iowa scored three goals in the first 27 minutes, as the Panthers defeated North Dakota State 3-0 at the Cedar Valley Soccer Complex.
The loss dropped the Bison to 4-3-1 on the season, while UNI improved to 4-3 on the year. NDSU returns to action on Friday, Sept. 20 at Eastern Washington (3-4-1). The match in Cheney, Wash. is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. central time and can be viewed on Pluto TV channel 534.Â
Sydney Hayden scored her third goal of the season off an assist from Jordyn Rolli in the 14th minute to open the scoring. Just under five minutes later, Olivia Stearns notched her second goal of the season, with an assist from Hayden, to put the Panthers up 2-0. The final goal came from Rolli in the 27th minute.
Mariah Haberle led the Bison with three shots, while
Brookelyn Dew,
Eden Taylor-Wineera and
Elyse Huber each had a shot. Haberle and Taylor-Wineera each had a shot on goal.
Monica Polgar recorded seven saves in the net. One of the saves was a penalty kick, as Polgar has successfully stopped a penalty kick in each of the last three matches.Â
UNI had a 15-6 advantage in shots, including 10-2 in shots on goal. The Panthers had an 8-1 advantage on shots in the first half. Both teams had four corner kicks.
