Big Fourth Quarter Gives Bison Win over Purdue Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The North Dakota State women's basketball team outscored Purdue Fort Wayne 21-9 in the fourth quarter Thursday, as the Bison beat the Mastodons 58-44 at Memorial Coliseum. 

The Bison won back-to-back games for the second time this season, as they improved to 6-14 overall and 3-5 in the Summit League. The Mastodons dropped to 5-16 overall and 1-7 in league play. NDSU returns to action on Saturday afternoon, as the Bison travel to Western Illinois for the second game of a three game road trip. Tipoff is set for 4:30 p.m. at Western Hall in Macomb, Ill.

Rylee Nudell finished with a game-high 14 points, while Emily Dietz and Ryan Cobbins joined her in double figures with 10 points apiece. Riley Ott led the Mastodons with 13 points. Nudell also had a game-high 10 rebounds, notching her fourth double-double in the last seven games. Danneka Voegeli added eight boards, while Dietz had six. 

Nicole Scales had four assists, while Sofija Zivaljevic had three. Nudell tied a career-high with three steals. 

The Bison had a 44-23 advantage in rebounds and a 19-6 advantage in bench points. NDSU was 21-of-55 (38.2%) from the floor and 5-of-15 from 3-point range, while the Mastodons were 17-of-53 (32.1%) from the field and 3-of-15 from downtown. The Bison were 11-of-13 (84.6%) at the free throw line, while Purdue Fort Wayne was 7-of-13 (53.8%).

NDSU led for the final 14:52 of the game, while using a 12-2 run in the final 2:04 to put the game away. NDSU was 9-of-10 at the free throw line in the fourth quarter.
