NDSU Beats Purdue Fort Wayne 80-70 for 6th Straight Victory

FARGO, N.D. – Senior Tyson Ward finished with 22 points, 10 rebounds and six assists to lift the North Dakota State men's basketball team to an 80-70 win over Purdue Fort Wayne on Friday night inside the Scheels Center.
 
NDSU improved to 19-7 overall and remained tied for first place in The Summit League at 10-2. The six-game winning streak is the longest for the Bison since winning 10 in a row at the end of the 2013-14 season.
 
Ward recorded his fourth double-double of the season and the 13th of his career. He posted a season-high six assists for the fourth time this year.
 
NDSU senior point guard Vinnie Shahid added 19 points and five assists. Junior forward Rocky Kreuser had 13 points, six boards and three blocks.
 
NDSU committed only eight turnovers in the game and made 22-of-25 (88 percent) at the free throw line. The Bison won the rebounding battle, 39-29.
 
The Bison never trailed in the contest and led by as many as 18 in the second half. The Mastodons' deficit was two points at 50-48 with 13:45 to play, but NDSU responded with a 12-0 run to put the game out of reach.
 
The Bison are now 14-3 in their last 17 games, dating back to the victory over East Tennessee State on Dec. 7.
 
NDSU plays twice on the road next week – at South Dakota on Wednesday, Feb. 19, and at North Dakota on Saturday, Feb. 22.
