HUNTSVILLE, Texas – Megan McDonald went 3 for 3 including a pair of RBI doubles as host Sam Houston State edged North Dakota State 2-1 in the first game of the Bearkat Invitational on Friday, Feb. 28.

NDSU (5-10) is scheduled to play Sam Houston State (8-10) at 12 p.m. and Louisiana Tech (3-13) at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 29.

McDonald's first RBI double came with two outs in the bottom of the third to put Sam Houston State ahead 1-0. Her second two-bagger came with two outs in the bottom of the fifth to extend the lead to 2-0. Both doubles were to left center.

North Dakota State cut into the deficit in the top of the sixth.
Madyson Camacho hit a one-out triple to right center and scored on a
Stephanie Soriano RBI single to left.
Cara Beatty had the other hit, a single, as the Bearkats outhit the Bison 7-3.

SHSU reliever Annie Bailey picked up her third save of the season by retiring the last five NDSU batters faced. Karina Sanchez (2-2) recorded the win.

Paige Vargas (3-6) took the loss. She struck out three and issued no walks.
