FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State men's basketball team rolled to an 87-67 victory over Omaha on Saturday afternoon, clinching a share of the Summit League regular season title and the No. 1 seed for the upcoming conference tournament.
 
NDSU improved to 22-8 overall and finished the Summit League slate at 13-3, winning its fourth regular season conference title since 2009.
 
On Senior Day inside the Scheels Center, three of the four Bison seniors scored 20-plus points. Tyson Ward poured in a career-high 29 points on 11-for-16 shooting, including a perfect 4-of-4 from beyond the arc. Jared Samuelson added 21 points on seven three-pointers.
 
Vinnie Shahid scored 20 points and dished out a season-high nine assists for the Bison, reaching the 1,000-point mark for his career. He became only the second Bison ever to score 1,000 points in just two seasons at NDSU, joining former NBA draft pick Lance Berwald (1982-84).
 
NDSU sank 15 three-pointers, falling one shy of matching the school single-game record of 16. The Bison were 15-of-34 (44 percent) from downtown.
 
NDSU shot 48 percent for the game and limited Omaha to 42-percent shooting. The Bison also registered 16 assists, compared to only nine turnovers.
 
The Bison hit 10 threes in the first half on their way to a 54-41 halftime lead. NDSU maintained at least a 13-point advantage for the entire second half.
 
NDSU will be the No. 1 seed for the Summit League Tournament and play No. 8 seed Denver in the quarterfinals at 6 p.m. Saturday, Mar. 7, at the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls.
