Adrian Harris Breaks NDSU 300m Dash Record

FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State freshman sprinter Adrian Harris broke the school record in the 300m dash to headline the efforts of the Bison men's track & field team on the first day of the Bison Open Friday.
 
Harris, a true freshman from St. Petersburg, Fla., won the 300m dash in 34.16 to set the NDSU all-time best. He broke Marques Johnson's record of 34.21 from 2005.
 
Junior Cody Roder now ranks fifth all-time at NDSU in the 300m after running 34.52 for runner-up honors.
 
The NDSU men finished 1-3-4-5-6 in the weight throw, led by event champion Alex Talley. Talley threw a personal-best 70-08.50 (21.55m) to win the event and move up to No. 2 in NDSU history. He is now ranked ninth in the NCAA this season.
 
Junior Trevor Otterdahl took third at 68-06.75 (20.90m), senior Michael Keogan was fourth at 68-02.50 (20.79m), and freshman Maxwell Otterdahl placed fifth at 64-03.25 (19.59m). Sophomore Jacob Slate posted a personal-best mark of 61-10.50 (18.86m) in the weight throw for sixth place.
 
NDSU sophomore Jacob Rodin won the 600m, running 1:21.38.
 
NDSU's Tony Ukkelberg leads the heptathlon with 3,138 points after four of the seven events. He registered a career-best mark of 49-11.75 (15.23m) in the shot put.
 
The Bison Open resumes on Saturday at 10 a.m. with the heptathlon 60m hurdles. Running events start at noon, and field events begin with the women's high jump and men's shot put at 1 p.m.
