SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The top-seeded North Dakota State men's basketball team beat No. 6 seed North Dakota 89-53 in the championship game of the Summit League Tournament on Tuesday night.

The Bison won their fifth Summit League Tournament championship since 2009 – and their fourth in the past seven years. NDSU is now 12-3 in six seasons at the Summit League Tournament under head coach David Richman.

The Bison set a title game record for largest margin of victory at 36 points.

NDSU raced out to a 21-2 lead in the game's first nine minutes and never trailed. The Bison led 49-22 at halftime, and pushed the margin to as many as 39 in the second half.

The Bison shot 55 percent for the game and made 13-of-25 (52 percent) from beyond the arc. NDSU committed just six turnovers in the contest.

Vinnie Shahid led all players with 25 points. Senior
Tyson Ward added 23 points and 13 rebounds for NDSU, hitting a perfect 5-of-5 from three-point range. Senior
Jared Samuelson scored 11 for the Bison.

NDSU improved to 25-8 on the season. The school record for wins in a season is 26, set in 1924-25, 2008-09, and 2013-14.
