NDSU Men’s Track & Field Leads Summit League with 8 Academic All-League Honorees

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The North Dakota State University men's track & field team led The Summit League by earning eight of the 15 spots on the Academic All-League team announced Wednesday for the 2020 indoor season.
 
Elliott Stone, Alex Talley, Alex Bartholomay, Trevor Otterdahl, Tony Ukkelberg, Tyler Enerson, Jacob Rodin, and Josh Samyn all earned the honor by virtue of their athletic and academic achievements.
 
Stone (Bismarck, N.D.) earned a degree in mechanical engineering with a 4.0 GPA, and is now a graduate MBA student. A two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American, he ranked fourth in The Summit League for the 3000m this season.
 
Talley (West Fargo, N.D.) owns a 3.53 cumulative GPA as a civil engineering major. He was the Summit League champion in the weight throw and runner-up in the shot put, and was the only man in the nation to qualify for the NCAA Championships in both throwing events this season. Talley finished the year ranked fifth in the NCAA in the weight throw.
 
Bartholomay (Bowman, N.D.) was the Summit League champion in the 3000m and placed fourth in the mile at the conference meet. The owner of the league's fastest mile time and 3000m time for the season, Bartholomay is an accounting major with a 3.84 GPA.
 
Otterdahl (Rosemount, Minn.) is a mathematics major with a 3.96 GPA. He ranked 18th in the NCAA in the weight throw for the season, claiming Summit League runner-up honors in the event and taking fourth at the conference meet in the shot put.
 
Ukkelberg (Clitherall, Minn.) ranked third in the league in the heptathlon for the season and added a seventh-place finish in the long jump at the conference meet. He owns a 4.0 GPA with a major in psychology.
 
Enerson (Grand Forks, N.D.) has a 3.92 GPA in agricultural economics. He placed seventh in the heptathlon at the Summit League Championships and ranked top-20 in the league in four events for the season.
 
Rodin (Kenmare, N.D.) won the Summit League 800m title and ran on NDSU's league runner-up 4x400m relay. He ranked in the nation's top 75 this season in the 800m. Rodin is an agricultural economics major with a 4.0 GPA.
 
Samyn (Winnipeg, Manitoba) owns a 3.94 GPA in biological sciences. He was the Summit League runner-up in the 800m and ranked seventh in the league in the mile for the season.
 
To be eligible for The Summit League Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 (on a 4.00 scale), completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of their team's competitions. The award is voted on by the institutions' faculty athletic representatives and sports information directors.
