NDSU Soccer Closes Home Schedule With Loss to Denver

FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State women's soccer team closed out the home portion of the 2021 schedule with a 4-0 loss to Summit League leading Denver Sunday afternoon at Dacotah Field.
 
Kaitlyn Glover led the way for the Pioneers (12-5-0, 7-0-0 Summit), scoring a hat trick, while also assisting on the other Denver goal.
 
Glover put Denver ahead of the Bison (2-11-1, 2-5-0 Summit) in the 14th minute and then set up the second goal with an assist on Sydney Sharp's goal 90 seconds later in the 15th minute.
 
Glover would add her second goal in the 20th minute for the final goal of the first half, as Denver took a 3-0 lead into the break.
 
North Dakota State would start the second half strong with scoring opportunities, but were unable to cut into the deficit despite holding the Pioneers without a shot for the first 28 minutes of the second half.
 
Olivia Lovick and Aliya Owens would have shots saved, while Ashleigh Heely and Gabby Sangillo had chances miss wide early on in the second half.
 
Glover would cap the scoring in the 89th minute as she completed the hat trick.
 
Denver would lead in shots 19-5. They had eight corners to just one for the Bison. Aly Cole, who made her first start of the season for the Bison, finished with six saves. Denver had two saves.
 
Brookelyn Dew moved into a tie for 10th on the all-time games played list at NDSU, appearing for the 78t time in a Bison uniform this afternoon.
 
The loss eliminates the Bison from Summit League Tournament contention.
 
North Dakota State will head into the final week of the season and are set to close out the year on the road. The Bison will take on Western Illinois on Friday, with kickoff set for 3 p.m. in Macomb, Illinois.
