Kansas City Sweeps NDSU Volleyball, 3-0

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas City pulled out a pair of 27-25 set victories in the first and second sets, then closed out the North Dakota State volleyball team 25-16 in the third to sweep Monday's Summit League match inside the Swinney Center.

Kansas City improved to 2-0 in league play, while the Bison fell to 2-2 overall and 0-2 in The Summit League.

NDSU was led by a pair of freshmen, as outside hitter Ali Hinze recorded 13 kills and libero Taylor Quan registered 15 digs. Melanie Brecka topped the Roos with 16 kills.

The Bison led 21-17 in the first set, but a 6-2 run by Kansas City tied it at 23-23. Despite two kills by senior Alexis Bachmeier that put NDSU up 24-23 and 25-24, the Roos rallied to take the set.

NDSU was ahead 19-14 in the second set when Kansas City scored five straight to even the set at 19-19. The Bison responded to go up 23-20, but four straight points by the Roos helped them take the set.

The Bison return home to play South Dakota State on Sunday, Feb. 7, and Monday, Feb. 8, with both matches scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse.
