NDSU Falls at Kansas City, 76-67

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The North Dakota State women's basketball team came up short at Kansas City, 76-67, on Saturday afternoon at Swinney Center.

Ryan Cobbins paced the Bison (10-17, 6-11 Summit) with a team-high 18 points on 7-of-15 shooting from the field and added in five rebounds. Heaven Hamling contributed 16 points and grabbed a team-best six rebounds with one steal. Reneya Hopkins reached double digits in scoring for the fourth straight game with 12 points and went 5-of-5 at the free throw line. She also added a career-high seven assists with four rebounds, three steals and one block. Emily Dietz hauled in five rebounds and appeared in her 129th career game to move into first place on the NDSU all-time games played list.

As a team, NDSU shot 39.7 percent (23-58) from the field. The Bison also drained nine three-pointers on 26 attempts, including a game-high four from Hamling.

After trailing by as many 10 points in the first half, NDSU battled its way back to lock the contest, 49-49, following a jumper from Cobbins at the 3:19 mark of the third. The Roos (22-5, 12-4 Summit) responded in the fourth frame slowly increasing their lead back up to 10, 72-62, with 36 seconds to play. Kansas City shot 12-of-15 at the line in the final quarter to seal the 76-67 win.

NDSU will wrap up the regular season hosting North Dakota (15-13, 9-8 Summit) on Saturday, Feb. 26. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m. at Scheels Center.
