Jansen, Hinze Power NDSU Volleyball Past Oral Roberts, 3-0

FARGO, N.D. – Lauren Jansen connected on a match-high 14 kills and Ali Hinze added in 10 kills of her own to help lift the North Dakota State volleyball team past Oral Roberts, 3-0, on Thursday night at Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse.

Jansen led the way for the Bison (13-7, 5-4 Summit) with a match-high 14 kills to go along with a .387 hitting percentage and five digs. Hinze notched a double-double with a match-best 13 digs and 11 kills, while Kelley Johnson chipped in a match-high 38 assists with eight digs.

The Bison sprinted out a 9-2 lead in the opening frame after a kill from Arianna Blohm. Oral Roberts (3-17, 1-7 Summit) worked its way back at the midway point trimming the deficit to one, 15-14, following an attack error. NDSU responded with a momentum-shifting 7-2 run to push its edge to 22-16 after a block from Blohm and Jansen. The Bison went on to close out the set, 25-18.

NDSU carried the energy into the second frame building a 10-2 lead following a block from Blohm and Hinze. The Bison then increased their lead into double figures, 15-4, after Blohm delivered a kill. NDSU, who posted a match-best .462 hitting percentage in the set, closed out the frame, 25-13.

Both teams traded points through the third set that saw 10 tie scores and six lead changes. The Bison jumped out to a 16-11 lead before the Golden Eagles put together five straight points to lock the set, 16-16. The Bison responded opening up a 21-19 advantage following a kill from Jansen. NDSU then put the set away with a 4-1 run to win the frame, 25-21, and the match, 3-0.

NDSU will wrap up its homestand hosting Denver on Saturday. First serve is set for 11:00 a.m., at Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse.
