FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State freshman
Alex Seagris won the javelin, and the Bison women's track & field team added a trio of third-place finishes on the opening day of the Summit League Outdoor Championships Thursday at the Terrence Dahl and Donna Beres Track Complex.

Seagris claimed the Summit League javelin title as a freshman, winning with a mark of 155-6 (47.41m) to give NDSU its ninth straight conference title in the women's javelin.

Hayley Schmidt placed third in the javelin, throwing 139-0 (42.37m).
Jenna Parent took sixth with a season-best 133-9 (40.76m).

Kaleesa Houston finished third in the 10,000m with a time of 36:05.46, ranking sixth-fastest in NDSU history.

Julia Gherardi tied for third in the pole vault, clearing 12-09.50 (3.90m) for her second-best mark of the season.

Merrideth Spiers placed fifth in the hammer throw with a mark of 174-8 (53.23m).
Hope Pringle ran 37:20.70 to place eighth in the 10,000m.

Nell Graham ran a career-best 23.97 in the heptathlon 200m, moving up to No. 7 on the NDSU all-time list. She stands as the Day 1 heptathlon leader with 3,175 points.

Jacee Johannsen set a new personal-best of 12-03.50 (3.75m) in the pole vault, finishing ninth.
