FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State men's track & field team opened up a lead in the team standings on the second day of the Summit League Outdoor Championships Friday. The Bison have 107 points through eight events, and South Dakota State is second with 72 points.

NDSU senior thrower
Trevor Otterdahl claimed his second Summit League title of the meet, winning the shot put with a career-best mark of 63-00.75 (19.22m). The Bison men swept the top four places in the shot put to score 29 points, with
Cam Landis second at 59-04.75 (18.10m),
Levi Rockey third at 57-04.75 (17.49m), and
Clayton Hannula fourth at 56-10.25 (17.33m).

Payton Smith was the league runner-up in the 3000m steeplechase, finishing in a personal-best 8:58.26. The Bison men finished 2-5-6 in the event with
Hunter Klimek in fifth and
Jake Arason in sixth behind Smith.

NDSU's
Dante White placed third in the long jump with a season-best mark of 23-05.25 (7.14m).
Koate Deebom took fifth at 22-10.50 (6.97m).

Josh Darwin placed fifth in the high jump, and
Elijah Hylen took seventh. Both cleared 6-7 (2.01m).

Bryce Enerson finished sixth in the Summit League decathlon with a personal-best 6,111 points.

In addition to the events that were finalized on Friday, the NDSU men sent numerous qualifiers through to Saturday's finals on the track.

Three Bison advanced to the 400m dash final –
Jacob Levin (47.61),
Isaac Huntington (48.22), and
Cullen Curl (48.60). Levin was also the fastest qualifier to the 200m dash final in 21.12.

Jacob Rodin (1:50.71) and
Keiser Freetly (1:52.52) both advanced to the 800m final.

Brock Johnsen (14.53) and
Logan Mathieu (14.61) qualified for the final in the 110m hurdles.

Dante White clocked a personal-best 10.48 to qualify for the 100m dash final. He now ranks ninth in NDSU history.
Josh Knutson ran 52.83 to advance second-fastest to the 400m hurdles final.

The Summit League Championships will conclude Saturday at the Terrence Dahl and Donna Beres Track Complex, with field events beginning at noon.
