Bison Women Regain Summit League Crown for 14th Outdoor Championship in 15 Years

FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State women's track & field team won its 14th outdoor conference title in 15 tries Saturday, bringing home the trophy on the final day of the Summit League Outdoor Championships at the Terrence Dahl and Donna Beres Track Complex on campus.
 
The Bison women stormed back into the team race with a spirited effort on Saturday afternoon, finishing with 254 points for the win. South Dakota finished second with 240 points, and South Dakota State was third with 120.
 
NDSU clinched the team title on the second-to-last event with 17 points in the 5,000m. Kaleesa Houston kicked to a second-place finish, Reagan Baesler took third, and Grace Link placed sixth in the event to seal the victory.
 
A Bison sweep of the top three places in the triple jump vaulted NDSU into the lead in the team standings after trailing South Dakota for much of the meet. Alissa Melvin captured the title with a mark of 40-11.75 (12.49m), Jodi Lipp was second, and Grace Emineth took third.
 
After winning the heptathlon on Friday, Nell Graham sparked the Bison with a conference title in the 400m dash on Saturday, running a lifetime-best 53.93. She also placed fifth in the 400m hurdles final.
 
Senior Terezia Bolibruch claimed the Summit League title in the 100m hurdles in 13.45, leading a dominant showing in the hurdle events. The Bison women finished 1-2-4-5 in the 100m hurdles with Salmata Korgho second in 13.57, Sydney Arndt fourth, and Bailee Dierks fifth.
 
NDSU rolled to a 2-4-5-6 finish in the 400m hurdles, led by Bailee Dierks in second. Angel Pratt finished fourth, Graham was fifth, and Korgho took sixth.
 
The Bison women racked up more crucial points in the 1500m with a 2-3-4-7 finish spearheaded by Baesler in 4:26.16 and Link in 4:26.17. Erin Valgardson placed fourth, and Aleah Miller was seventh.
 
Kendra Kelley (23.69) and Jasmine Williams (24.46) placed second and third, respectively, in the 200m dash. In the 100m, Kelley took third and Williams was sixth.
 
Arndt, Kelley, Williams and Pratt took second in the 4x100m relay in 46.34. Graham, Kelley, Dierks and Pratt were the conference runners-up in the 4x400m relay.
 
Freshman Adison Kapitzke took fourth in the discus, throwing 143-4 (43.69m). Merrideth Spiers was seventh for the Bison.
 
Grace Link took fifth in the 800m, giving her three top-six finishes on the day. Pratt placed sixth in the 400m dash in 55.80.
