FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State men's basketball team improved to 5-1 in its sixth overtime game of the season, beating Kansas City 82-78 on Thursday night inside the Scheels Center.
Junior forward
Andrew Morgan scored a career-high 31 points to lead the Bison, and senior
Boden Skunberg added 21 points with a flurry of buckets late in regulation and the overtime period.
NDSU made 33-of-38 (87 percent) at the free throw line, paced by a 14-for-16 effort by Morgan and a perfect 10-for-10 by Skunberg.
Skunberg also recorded seven rebounds and four assists to lead the Bison in both categories. It was the fourth time this season he played more than 40 minutes in a game.
The contest featured 10 lead changes and 10 ties, as the Bison battled back to erase an 11-point deficit in the second half. Kansas City led 56-47 with just under nine minutes remaining when NDSU stormed back to go ahead 59-58.
The game went to overtime tied at 68-68. The Bison went 10-for-10 at the free throw line in OT.
NDSU improved to 11-13 overall and 4-5 in The Summit League.
NDSU will host Omaha on Saturday at 1 p.m.
