FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State softball's
Addie Bowers tossed a complete game shutout to lead the Bison to a 4-0 victory over St. Thomas Friday afternoon at Tharaldson Park.
Bowers, making her home debut, tossed a career high seven strikeouts, scattering five hits and just one walk in the freshman's first career shutout.
Ella Claus gave the Bison the lead in the second inning with a two-RBI double down the line in left field, scoring
Zoe King and
Jasmyn Yessian.
Chloe Woldruff added to the Bison lead with her second home run of the season in the third inning. The Bison would add a fourth run in the fifth inning, as
Emilee Buringa scored on an error from the Tommies.
Six different Bison finished with a hit, with Buringa and Yessian recording a walk and a hit each.
With the win, the Bison improved to 5-0 all-time in home openers at Tharaldson Park, since the field was dedicated in the Fall of 2018.
NDSU and St. Thomas will wrap up the series on Saturday with a doubleheader at Tharaldson Park. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
