SANTA CLARA, Calif. – North Dakota State softball dropped a pair of one-run games at Santa Clara on Friday, falling 3-2 in game one, before the Broncos scored two in the seventh to walk off in a 4-3 win in game two.
NDSU had four hits to just three from Santa Clara in game one, but the Broncos came from behind for the win. Santa Clara scored in the first inning, but NDSU took the lead with a pair of runs scored on an error in the third.
However, the Broncos answered back with a solo home run in the bottom of the third and then scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth to defeat the Bison in game in.
Addie Bowers was dealt the loss, allowing three runs, two earned in three hits.
Emilee Buringa had a hit, runs scored and a walk to lead the Bison offensively.
In game two, Santa Clara scored on an error in the fourth to take the lead. However, the Bison answered back with two runs in the fourth on a sac fly from
Reanna Rudd and an RBI double from
Jasmyn Yessian.
After Santa Clara tied the game in the fifth, the Bison retook the lead in the sixth with Buringa scoring on an error. However, the Bison would make an error in the seventh that allowed the Broncos to score a pair of unearned runs in a walk off victory.
Madison Wihlm picked up the loss, allowing just two unearned runs. Buringa and Yessian finished with the only hits for the Bison.
NDSU will return to action on Saturday with games against Loyola Marymount and San Jose State, hosted at San Jose State.
