LAS VEGAS, Nev. – North Dakota State softball fell to UNLV 16-7 Sunday afternoon in the series finale at Eller Media Stadium to wrap up non-conference play.
The Bison jumped out to an early lead with RBI hits from
Bella Dean and
Chloe Woldruff in the top of the first, but UNLV answered back with 11 runs in the bottom half and then five more in the second to secure the win in the rubber match of the series.
Rylee Henderson added an RBI single in the second, while
Zoe King and
Ava Chavarria each had two-RBI hits in the fifth inning. Henderson was one of nine different Bison with a hit in the game, finishing with a pair to lead the way.
Savy Williams picked up the loss, allowing eight runs, including five earned.
Kaitlyn Dunford also allowed eight runs in relief, with also just five earned.
The Bison will return to Summit League action next week as they welcome South Dakota State to Tharaldson Park for a three-game series. The Bison and Jackrabbits will open the series with a noon doubleheader on April 13, followed by the series finale on April 14 at 11 a.m.
