AUGUSTA, Ga. - North Dakota State's
Kaedin Steindorf was named to the preseason watch list for the FCS Punter of the Year award, which is presented annually by the Augusta Sports Council to the top punter in the Football Championship Subdivision.
The 13 candidates on the preseason watch list were compiled from the 2023 watch list, all-conference and All-America teams. The winner will be determined by a national voting body consisting of FCS communications directors and sports writers.
Steindorf, a senior from Sherwood, Ore., averaged 43.7 yards on 33 punt attempts last year with 12 punts downed inside the 20-yard line. He had six punts of at least 50 yards including a season-long of 57 yards.
Steindorf has been NDSU's punter in all 45 games his first three seasons. He ranks fifth in Bison history with a career average of 41.01 yards on 133 attempts and has downed 54 punts inside the 20.
North Dakota State is scheduled to open the regular season at Colorado on Thursday, Aug. 29. The game will be televised on ESPN starting at 7 p.m. CT / 6 p.m. MT.
