Williams Named MVFC Special Teams Player of the Week

ST. LOUIS - North Dakota State's Jackson Williams was named Missouri Valley Football Conference Special Teams Player of the Week by the conference office Monday, Nov. 3, for his performance in last week's victory. It is his second award of the season and the third of his career.

Williams, a sophomore wide receiver and return specialist from Omaha, Neb., had a team-high 194 all-purpose yards on five touches to help spark North Dakota State to a 38-30 victory over 18th-ranked Youngstown State. Williams broke multiple tackles and scored a 100-yard kickoff return after YSU had scored to make it a four-point game late in the second quarter.

It was Williams' second career 100-yard kick return and the seventh in NDSU history. He added a 21-yard punt return and 24-yard kickoff return, and he rushed twice for four yards.

Williams has 494 combined return yards this season, which is the third most in the Missouri Valley Football Conference. He is averaging 31.3 yards per kickoff and 11.3 yards per punt return.

No. 1-ranked North Dakota State is on the road this week to face 13th-ranked North Dakota at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks.
