NDSU Women’s Basketball Tops Eastern Illinois, 83-55

CHARLESTON, Ill. – The North Dakota State women's basketball team picked up its sixth straight win after topping Eastern Illinois, 83-55, on Thursday night at Groniger Arena.

With the win, the Bison improve to 8-2 on the season, including a 3-0 record on the road. It marks the first time since the 2004-05 season that NDSU has won each of its first three road games. Eastern Illinois drops to 1-9 overall with the loss.

After opening up an 11-point lead at the half, 38-27, the Bison used a key 16-0 run spanning over four minutes in the third quarter to stretch their advantage to 54-31 with a layup from Karrington Asp at the 4:15 mark. The Bison, who never trailed in the contest, went on to earn the 83-55 road win.

Avery Koenen led the way with a game-high 22 points and career-best 16 rebounds for her fourth straight double-double. The Montevideo, Minn., native also added four steals, three assists and one block to her stat line.
