NDSU Women’s Basketball Tops South Dakota, 75-65

FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State women's basketball team connected on 10 three-pointers in the 75-65 win over South Dakota on Saturday afternoon inside the Scheels Center at the Sanford Health Athletic Complex.

Avery Koenen paced the Bison (16-7, 8-2 Summit) with a career-high 25 points on 9-of-13 from the field and 6-of-8 from the free throw line. She netted 19 of her 25 points in second half and it marked her third 20-point game in the last four games. Koenen also added six rebounds with two assists and one steal to her stat line. Marisa Frost reached double digits in scoring with 13 points off the bench, while Abbie Draper added 10 points with three rebounds.

As a team, the Bison drained 10 three-pointers on 28 attempts with six different players contributing at least one. NDSU shot 47.5 percent (28-59) from the field and 75.0 percent (9-12) from the free throw line.

After trailing at the intermission, 34-31, the Bison responded outscoring the Coyotes (10-15, 4-7 Summit), 26-16, in the third quarter. NDSU used a key 11-0 run in the third frame that featured seven points from Frost to steal the lead, 45-41, at the 4:04 mark. The Bison then opened up their largest lead of the game in the fourth quarter, 71-57, with a pair of free throws from Draper with 2:49 remaining. NDSU held off South Dakota the rest of the way for the 75-65 victory.

NDSU will wrap up its homestand hosting No. 25 South Dakota State on Wednesday. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
