NDSU Baseball Drops 11-3 Decision at No. 20 Alabama

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The North Dakota State baseball team dropped the series finale at No. 20 Alabama, 11-3, on Sunday afternoon at Sewell-Thomas Stadium in front of 3,419 fans.

Noah Gordon started the scoring with an RBI double into left center to make the score 1-0 in the opening frame. The Crimson Tide (12-0), who are one of eight unbeaten teams in Division I this season, responded with seven runs on five hits in the bottom of the second inning to steal the lead, 7-1, after Justin Lebron launched a grand slam to left field.

Will Mann cut into the deficit in the fourth with his first career home run to right field to make the score 7-2. Following a scoreless fifth frame, Gordon was able to beat the throw home after Mann struck out to cut the edge down to four, 7-3, in the sixth inning. The Crimson Tide answered once again to close the game with four unanswered runs, including three in the eighth inning to finish out the contest, 11-3.

The Bison (1-9) tallied five hits as a team with Gordon and Mann each contributing one run, one hit and one RBI apiece.

Tate Martin (0-2) made the start on the mound going 1.1 innings. Skyler Riedinger also made an appearance out the bullpen with one strikeout over 2.1 frames.

NDSU will be back in action at No. 3 LSU on Tuesday. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
