NDSU Volleyball Rolls Past Kent State, 3-0

FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State volleyball team rolled past Kent State, 3-0, to remain unbeaten at Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon.

Arianna Blohm led the way for NDSU (6-1) with a season-best 14 kills on 21 attempts for a .619 hitting percentage. She also added a season-best six blocks on the defensive side of the floor. Maddy Dombeck handed out a team-best 18 assists and Rya Borer notched a match-best 14 digs.

The two teams traded points through the first frame that saw six ties and five lead changes. The Bison grabbed control of the set with seven unanswered points to steal a 17-11 edge after an attack error. NDSU went on to hold off Kent State (4-5) the rest of the way and closed set with three straight points capped off by a solo block from Blohm to win the frame, 25-20.

NDSU carried the momentum into the second frame with an early 8-1 run to grab an 8-4 advantage with a kill from Dombeck. The Bison then stretched their lead to 23-18 after three straight kills from Blohm. NDSU, who posted a .310 hitting percentage in the set, went on to win the frame, 25-19.

Kent State pushed back in the third set grabbing a 12-10 lead following an attack error. The Bison answered with five straight points coming out of a timeout to regain the edge, 15-12, with a kill from Baily Randall. NDSU then pushed its lead to 23-16 with a block from Ally Barth and Lauren Jansen. The Bison held off the Golden Flashes the rest of the way to win the set, 25-21, and the match, 3-0.

NDSU will be back in action at the Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., against Arkansas State on Thursday at 4:00 p.m.
