FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State women's basketball team opened up a 24-4 lead after the first quarter and didn't look back as the Bison topped Omaha, 94-39, on Saturday afternoon inside the Scheels Center at the Sanford Health Athletic Complex in front of 1,274 fans.
With the win, NDSU (15-2, 4-0 Summit) extended its win streak to 13 straight games. The Bison also started league play with a 4-0 mark for the third straight season and reached the 15-win mark for the fourth consecutive season. Omaha drops to 2-17 (0-4 Summit) on the season.
Molly Lenz led the way with a career-best 24 points on 4-of-6 shooting from three and 4-of-4 from the free throw line. The Victoria, Minn., native added five rebounds and two steals to her stat line over 27 minutes.
Avery Koenen tied a career-high 16 rebounds with nine points, while
Marisa Frost netted 14 points with three assists and two blocks.
Karrington Asp added 14 points and
Abby Graham contributed a season-best 13 points off the bench.
As a team, the Bison shot 42.9 percent (30-70) from the field and 71.9 percent (23-32) from the free throw line. NDSU tied a season-best 11 triples on 25 attempts with six different players posting at least one. The Bison also grabbed 46 rebounds as a team in comparison to the Mavericks' 36.
NDSU will be back in action at South Dakota State on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m.
