BUFFALO, N.Y. – The No. 3-seeded Michigan State Spartans defeated the No. 14 seed North Dakota State men's basketball team 92-67 on Thursday evening at KeyBank Center in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
The Bison conclude their season with a record of 27-8, establishing a new school record for wins.
Damari Wheeler-Thomas led the Bison with 16 points.
Trevian Carson finished with 11 points, seven rebounds and six assists for NDSU.
Michigan State shot 59 percent for the game and 50 percent (10-for-20) from three-point range. The Bison made 44 percent overall and 24 percent (6-of-25) from beyond the arc.
NDSU trailed 25-18 with 7:30 left in the first half when the Spartans put together a 10-0 run to go up 35-18. Michigan State led 45-25 at halftime.
The Bison cut the deficit to 16 at 77-61 with 4:15 to play, but never got any closer.
NDSU swept the Summit League regular season and tournament titles to earn its sixth bid to the NCAA Tournament.
