OMAHA, Neb. – North Dakota State softball fell in game two of its Summit League series with Omaha, losing 2-0 to the Mavericks at Connie Claussen Field.
Omaha took the lead on a solo home run on the first pitch of the second inning and added another solo home run in the sixth inning to cap the scoring in the game.
NDSU had the most threatening inning for either team, loading the bases in the fifth inning, but Omaha made a pitching change and got out of the jam with a strikeout and ground out.
Lileigh Nieto had one of four hits for the Bison and the only extra-base hit with a double.
Savannah Henzler and
Ella Claus also recorded hits and added a stolen base each in the game.
Amai Hanta reached on a hit by pitch and had the third stolen base for NDSU.
Star Cortez had both NDSU walks.
Jocelyn McClary tossed a complete game, allowing the two home runs. She finished with just five hits against in the loss.
NDSU will return to action on Sunday, as the Bison wrap up the series with Omaha. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m. from Connie Claussen Field.
