Zak Szabo pitched 4 1/3 innings of scoreless relief with five strikeouts and no walks for the win as North Dakota State picked up a 5-2 victory over Vanderbilt in college baseball Sunday, March 8, at Hawkins Field.
Szabo threw 41 of his 61 pitches for strikes and retired the Commodores in order in the sixth and eighth. He struck out three of the first four batters he faced and allowed only a two-out double in the seventh and a pair of singles in the ninth.

Vanderbilt (10-7) pulled within 3-2 in the fifth when Rustan Rigdon led off with a bunt single and Mike Mancini belted a two-out, two-run homer to center field.
The Bison tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the seventh with back-to-back two-out RBI singles from Trujillo and first baseman
Aiden Schenk.
Trujillo finished 2-for-5 with two RBIs, Corbin had two walks and scored three runs, left fielder
Colten Becker was 2-for-4 with a pair of singles extending his hitting streak to 10 games, and Law reached base three times going 1-for-2 with two walks, a sacrifice bunt and two runs scored.
NDSU starter
Jonah Walker pitched 4 2/3 innings allowing two runs on five hits with four walks and three strikeouts. Vanderbilt starter Nate Taylor took the loss with three runs on four hits with four walks and five strikeouts in four innings of work.
North Dakota State (2-13) has a non-conference game at Nebraska scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, before opening a three-game Summit League series at Omaha on Friday, March 13.
