GREELEY, Colo. – The North Dakota State baseball team scored four unanswered runs over the final five innings in the 4-3 come-from-behind win at Northern Colorado on Friday afternoon at Jackson Field.
Northern Colorado (6-29, 4-8 Summit) jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after Logan Pruski delivered a two RBI single in the first frame and Zeke Minic connected on an RBI sacrifice fly in the fourth inning.
Colten Becker sparked the Bison (5-20, 2-5 Summit) with a two-out RBI single to center field to make the score 3-1 in the fifth inning.
Chase Womack then launched his first career home run as a Bison in the sixth to cut the deficit to 3-2. Becker followed it up the eighth with another solo home run to right field to lock the contest, 3-3.
Bennett Freiter closed the game out in the ninth inning with a solo home run of his own to right field to seal the 4-3 comeback win.
The Bison totaled 10 hits as a team with
Dante Smith posting a season-best three in five appearances with one run. Becker also went 2-of-4 at the plate with two RBI and one run.
Parker Puetz made the start tossing four strikeouts over 6.0 innings with one walk.
Sheamus Ryan (1-0) earned his first career win tossing three strikeouts over 3.0 scoreless frames.
The victory also marked the 100th career win for head coach
Tyler Oakes. He has posted a 100-133 record over five seasons, which includes one Summit League regular season championship in 2022 and one Summit League Tournament title last season.
