FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State softball completed a Summit League series sweep of Kansas City on Monday, defeating the Roos 5-3 in game three at Tharaldson Park.
Bella Dean continued her hot week at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI to lead the way for the Bison. After Kansas City took an early lead in the top of the first, Dean tied the game with an RBI single to left to score
Amai Hanta and tie the game at one.
NDSU then loaded the bases in the fourth and
Macy Fry was hit by a pitch to put NDSU in front 2-1. After an infield single from
Star Cortez two batters late to make it 3-1, Dean stepped up and hit a two-out, two-RBI single to right to extend NDSU's lead to 5-1.
Kansas City would rally in the seventh and scored two runs, but
Jocelyn McClary was able to complete her second complete game victory of the series and fifth in league play to help NDSU to its second league sweep of the season.
Taylinn Warren joined Dean with two hits in the game. Hanta finished with two runs scored.
It is the first time NDSU has swept two Summit League opponents in the same season since 2023, which is also the last Bison sweep of Kansas City.
NDSU closes the six-game homestand at 4-2 and will head on the north next week to wrap up the road schedule at North Dakota. The series is set to get underway on Friday against the Fighting Hawks, with first pitch set for 6 p.m.
