2008-09 SEASON
Indoor (Junior): Competed in the weight throw and shot put...Finished in the top three in the weight throw in four meets...Came in fourth in weight throw with a personal-best throw of 57-11 ¾ at the Summit League Championships, which is ranked third all-time at NDSU...Also competed in the shot put at the league championships, finishing seventh.
Outdoor (Junior): NCAA Midwest Regional qualifier in the hammer...Finished 23rd at the regional in the event...Won the hammer at the Summit League Championships with a throw of 184-1...Also finished fourth in the javelin, seventh in the discus and 10th in the shot put at the league championships.
2007-08 SEASON
Indoor (Sophomore): Threw the shot a season-best 46-3 1/4 at the Cobber Open...Set a personal-best of 57-3 3/4 in the weight throw at the Bison Open, which is third on the all-time performance charts...Finished second in the weight throw at the Summit League Championships.
Outdoor (Sophomore): Finished first in the hammer three times...Won the hammer at the Cobber Twilight in a throw of 184-4, which is second on the all-time performance charts...Placed second in the hammer and fifth in the discus and javelin at the Summit League Championships.
2006-07 SEASON
Indoor (Freshman): Won both the shot put and the weight throw at the Dakota Duals... Established personal bests of 49-3 and 52-5 1/2, respectively, in the two events during indoor competition.
Outdoor (Freshman): Came up big for the Bison at the Division I Independent Championships placing in four different events to help NDSU to the team title and was named field athlete of the meet... Scored 24 points for the Herd by placing fourth in the shot put (46-1 1/2), second in the discus (149-8), fourth in the hammer throw (166-11) and third in the javelin (162-1)... Those distances in the shot put, discus and hammer throw were all personal bests.
2005-06 SEASON: Redshirt.
HIGH SCHOOL: Lettered in four sports for West Fargo (N.D.) High School as a senior in 2005... Team captain in track & field... Placed at state in three throwing events... Had personal best marks of 52-0 (shot), 162-1 (discus) and 178-8 (javelin)... State runner-up in the javelin as a junior... Compiled 103 tackles as a linebacker on the football field, earning all-conference and all-state honors... Selected to play in the MonDak Bowl and Shrine Game as a senior... Finished his prep career with a 108-65 record as a wrester at 215 pounds... Also competed in basketball for the Packers.
PERSONAL: Son of Ted and Mary Johnson... Family includes one brother, Drew, and one sister, Meagan... Majoring in industrial engineering.
