Zach Wentz

    Volunteer Assistant

Four-year North Dakota State University starting pitcher and infielder Zach Wentz is in his first season as volunteer assistant for the Bison baseball program.

Wentz hit .334 with 58 doubles, 20 home runs and 133 RBIs in 208 career games at NDSU.  On the mound, he had a 13-16 record with a 5.52 ERA over 44 appearances including 36 starts and seven complete games.

He is NDSU's all-time record holder for games played, at-bats (805), hits (269), doubles and defensive chances (1119).  He finished second in walks (76) and total bases (389), third in innings pitched (213 2/3) and fifth in RBIs.

Wentz was an All-Summit League second team starting pitcher in 2010 and infielder in 2012, and he earned CoSIDA Academic All-America® honors both years.  He signed a professional contract with the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks in 2012.

A graduate of Bismarck Century High School, Wentz was a four-time Summit League All-Academic and three-time Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence honoree.  He is pursuing a bachelor's degree in health and physical education at NDSU.
