2006-07 (Junior): One of the strengths of the Bison team at 184, compiled a 10-5 overall record and was 6-1 in duals with six of his victories coming by pins... Finished 4-0 at the Virginia Duals with three pins... Runner-up at the Bison Open with two pins and an 8-0 victory over Nathan Roemer of Minnesota State Moorhead.
2005-06 (Sophomore): Had a 25-7 record, 9-3 in duals...Finished tied for ninth in pins for all NCAA Divisions...Led the team in wins (25), dual wins (9), pins (18), and fastest pin (0:37)...Took first place at the Cobber Open and third at the UNI Open...Had an eight-match winning streak during the dual season, pinning six of his opponents...Defeated NCAA Qualifier Jeremy Colbert of NC State 13-2 in the dual opener.
2004-05 (Freshman): Had a record of 7-4...Placed fifth at the Dragon Open going 4-2...Competed in three tournaments...Finished season strong, winning four out of his last five matches.
2003-04 (Redshirt): Sat out the season as a redshirt in the Bison program but wrestled unattached to a 2-5 record.
High School: Graduated from Willmar High School in 2003 where he was coached by Tom Beyer...Four-year all-conference selection, earning the honor at four different weight classes...Two-time section champion and qualified three times for the state tournament, placing sixth as a senior...Posted a 37-5 record his final year and had a 131-62 career record...Led team in pins and reversals his senior season...MVP for the Cardinals his junior and senior years.
Personal: Majoring in history education...Son of Lee Wetterling and Alisa Savelkoul, both of Willmar...Family includes two sisters, Barb and Theresa, and a brother, Steven.
