Border States congratulates Maddy Nilles, one of this week's Border States Electric Student-Athletes of the Week.

Nilles, who is getting her master's degree in health, nutrition, and exercise sciences, improved on her hammer throw school record with a mark of 220-5 (67.19m) at Wichita State's Shocker Spring Invitational. The Sherrill, Iowa, native added more than two feet to her previous record and is No. 2 on the NCAA performance list for this season. Nilles earned first team All-America honors in the hammer at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in June 2018.
