Bison Athletic Hall of Fame

Mark Speral
- Induction:
- 1996
- Class:
- 1982
Speral was one of the finest signalcallers ever to take a snap at North Dakota State. Before a regionally televised ABC Sports audience, he ran for 153 yards and scored a school- and league-record five touchdowns in a 45-20 victory over the University of North Dakota during his freshman year. When his career ended, Speral walked away with nine school records and several NCC marks. He ran and passed for nearly 6,000 yards, scoring 38 touchdowns and passing for another 23. He was selected to the Associated Press All-America third team as a senior, the first Bison quarterback to ever earn such honors. He was All-NCC in both his junior and senior seasons, including Most Valuable Offensive Back in 1980. He was twice named to the Academic All-NCC team and was an eight-time NCC Player of the Week. A graduate of Fargo North High School, Speral graduated from NDSU in 1982 with a degree in construction management and is a project manager for a local construction company.
