Bison Athletic Hall of Fame

Pete Lana
- Induction:
- 1994
- Class:
- 1973
Lana made an impact on the Bison program on two fronts -- as a wide receiver and as an artist. Lana led NDSU in receiving twice, catching 24 passes for 432 yards and four TDs in 1970 as a sophomore, and hauling in 29 passes for 443 yards and three scores as a senior. He set a single-game record for most yards per reception (58.5 ypr) in 1971 against Northern Arizona. Most lasting, however, is the mark he made on Bison football by designing the snorting Bison logo that evolved into the official Bison logo that is used on everything from the football helmet to sweatshirts. A two-time All-NCC selection on the football field, Lana joined Shell Chemical Company in 1973 (later bought out by DuPont Agricultural Products) and continues to work for that company while farming over 200 acres.
